Short Facts
Your Responsibilities
You will own internal AI automation end to end — from talking to the human running a process today to shipping the agent that runs it tomorrow.
This includes:
Discover automation opportunities by sitting with People, Finance, and BizOps teammates, watching their work, and identifying repetitive or context-heavy tasks where AI is materially cheaper or better.
Design lightweight solutions: where a Zapier/n8n flow is enough, use it. Where we need a real agent with tool use, RAG, or custom integrations, build it. Where we should buy SaaS, recommend that and move on.
Build & ship Python (and TypeScript where useful) agents and tools that integrate with Slack, Google Workspace, Confluence/Jira, our HRIS, our accounting stack, and our data lake.
Measure adoption and impact — every automation has a “did this actually save time or improve quality?” metric. Kill what doesn’t work, double down on what does.
Evangelize AI inside flexa: train teammates to use Claude effectively, run office hours, document patterns, turn Flexa into an AI power-user organization.
Set the standard for how we work with AI internally — privacy, GDPR, evals, prompt patterns, model selection, cost control.
Your Profile
We care more about what you have built and how you think than about which degree you hold. We hire across business, engineering, hybrid (e.g. business-informatics) and self-taught backgrounds — what we look for is the same.
Mandatory Requirements
1–3 years of work experience (substantive internships count); ideally at a startup or scale-up where you owned end-to-end delivery.
A track record of shipping things end-to-end — side projects you built and ran, internship deliverables that would not have shipped without you, a small business or initiative you started and operated. We care about evidence that you finish what you start.
Operator instinct — when handed a vague brief you ask why the process exists in its current form before you write code. You can sit with a non-technical colleague, watch them work, and reframe the problem cheaper than they framed it.
Coding strong enough to ship — Python is a must. You can read a codebase, structure a small one of your own, write tests, and reason about cost, latency and error handling. You will be asked to build a small working agent as part of our interview process.
Hands-on experience designing and shipping AI agents or LLM-driven workflows in a real environment — not only prototypes. You have integrated a model with at least one external system (an API, a database, a tool).
High agency and bias to ship — you don’t wait for the perfect spec; you find the smallest first version, ship it, and iterate.
C1 English. Comfort working in an English-first office.
Nice-to-haves
Familiarity with at least one agent framework (LangGraph, Claude Agent SDK, OpenAI Agents SDK, CrewAI, n8n).
Experience with RAG, vector stores, evals and prompt engineering at a non-trivial level.
Exposure to Google Workspace API, Slack API, Atlassian API or HRIS / payroll APIs.
TypeScript and SQL.
Experience interviewing customers or stakeholders, scoping a product, or selling — anything where you turned what you heard into a working spec.
German (B2+).
Experience in B2C, energy or climate-tech is a bonus, not a requirement.
This role may not be a fit for you if…
You're more interested in customer-facing product work or core ML / data-science problems — that work lives in our Tech / VPP team, not here.
You wait to be told what to automate. The role is "look around, find the highest-leverage process, propose it, ship it" — not "wait for the ticket."
You'd rather code in heads-down focus than spend half your week sitting next to colleagues and watching how they actually work. Half this role is empathy and observation; the other half is shipping.
You prefer big-org structure, formal specs and long planning cycles before you start building.
At Flexa, we are committed to diversity — of all backgrounds and experiences. You don’t need 100% of the preferred qualifications to add incredible value to our team. If you’re passionate about what you could accomplish here, we’d love to hear from you.

A Short Note from Your Future Lead
Sven – Chief of Staff
Hi there!
I'm Sven, Chief of Staff at Flexa, where we are building Europe's largest residential Virtual Power Plant — the AI-driven system that ties together solar panels, EVs, heat pumps and home batteries to help households save money and the grid stay stable. My role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations and execution: I work day to day with our two Co-CEOs to translate company priorities into the people, projects and processes that make them happen.
Before joining Flexa, I spent nearly five years at McKinsey & Company, advising energy-sector clients on high-impact strategy projects from large utilities navigating the energy transition to scale-ups figuring out how to commercialize new technology. Earlier, I studied economics, which shapes how I think about trade-offs, incentives and where the real leverage in a system sits.
At Flexa, we believe innovation happens when talented people are given real ownership and the trust to ship. I aim to create an environment where you can take responsibility, experiment with new ideas and build the things that actually matter.
This role is one I care a lot about. We are tech-heavy in our product but still quite manual in how we run ourselves. You will not be a "tools picker"; you will decide what to build, what to buy and what to leave alone, and you will own the outcome. I will give you direction and context, then get out of your way. Of course, I’m always here to collaborate, brainstorm ideas, tackle tough challenges together, or help clear any roadblocks.
If you are excited about turning a fast-moving company into one of the most AI-leveraged teams of its size in Europe — with a high degree of autonomy from day one — I am looking forward to hear from you.
Sven
